Chinese National Day is public holidays in China starting on 1 October every year and lasting for 7 days. It's a Golden Week in China with huge amount of travelers domestically and overseas. Check out other Chinese Golden Weeks.
The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The holiday is also celebrated by many overseas Chinese.

China National Day History
The People's Republic of China was founded on October 1, 1949, with a ceremony celebrating the forming of the Central People's Government taking place in Tiananmen Square on the same day that year.
The first public parade of the new People's Liberation Army took place there, following the address by the country's first Chairman Mao Zedong officially declaring the formal establishment of the Republic.
In September 1960, the Central Committee and the State Council decided to reform the National Day system in line with the principle of diligently building the country. Since then, from 1960 to 1970, the annual National Day held grand gatherings and mass parades in front of Tiananmen Square, but no military parade.
From 1971 to 1983, on October 1st every year, Beijing celebrated the National Day with other forms such as large-scale gardening activities, and no mass demonstrations were held.
In 1984, on the 35th anniversary of the National Day, a grand National Day military parade and mass celebration parade were held. In the following ten years, the National Day was celebrated in other forms, and the National Day military parade and mass celebrations were not held.
On October 1, 1999, on the 50th anniversary of the National Day, a grand National Day military parade and mass celebration parade were held. This is the last grand National Day celebration held by the People's Republic of China in the 20th century.
Since the founding of P.R. China, there have been 14 military parades in the National Day celebrations. They were 11 times between 1949 and 1959, and the 35th anniversary of the 1984 National Day, the 50th anniversary of the 1999 National Day, and the 60th anniversary of the National Day of 2009.

China Golden Week tourism grew by 9% in 2018
China’s domestic tourism received a total of 726 million person-trips, an increase of 9.43% year-on-year during the National Day Holiday 2018 (hereinafter referred to as Golden Week). That brought about 599.08 billion yuan (US$86.5 bn) in revenue, up by 9.04% over the previous year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
