Merely 55 seconds after 0:00 on November 11, the transaction amount reached 100 million yuan (USD 16.3 million). At 0:06:07, it reached 1 billion yuan (USD 163 million). At 5:49 am, it reached 10 billion yuan (USD 1.63 billion). Chinese shopping day Double 11 in 2013 easily surpassed Cyber Monday transaction which was USD 19.8 billion in 2012.
As for mobile end shopping, 2 million users entered into mobile Taobao in just 1 minute on November 11,2013. 1 hour and 10 mins after 0:00, mobile Taobao transaction mounted to 1 billion yuan (USD 163 million), more than the total mobile transaction on November 11 2012.
Most Chinese consumers did their online shopping on Tmall, with 86% on China’s Bachelor’s Day in 2013. And 81% targeted Taobao as the shopping destination. Besides, Jingdong attracted 52%, Amazon with 21%, 51buy with 12%.
And the top 3 provinces (by 3:00 am) announced by Tmall were Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu province. By 3 am, Guangdong province’s transaction hit 912 million yuan (USD 148.7 million).
Top 3 best-selling shops in Tmall were: Xiaomi, Haier, and Camel. Xiaomi’s transaction on November 11 2013 hit 541 million yuan (USD 88.2 million), far ahead of Haier with 175 million yuan (USD 28.53 million).
