You’re mistaken if you think Chinese don’t pay for mobile app and only use pirated software. According to a survey by GameLook in August this year, Chinese mobile app including tablets and mobile phones’ revenue ranked the fifth in the world. The U.S. ranked the top, followed by Japan, South Korea and the UK.
In the top five mobile app revenue countries, except for China, the other four’s revenue came from iOS and Android two platforms. It means that China ranked the fifth with only revenue from iOS platform. In China, Google play has no paid app, so the revenue can only come from iOS platform.
In Android Platform, Japan and South Korea had the highest revenue; the U.S. topped in iOS platform, and Japan came to the second.
In August 2013, Google play market share by revenue grew to 35% from 25% half a year ago; iOS dropped from 75% to 65%.
