In the first half of 2013, Taobao mobile new visitors surpassed 100 million, said Taobao on August 22, 2013. And Taobao mobile daily active visitors increased greatly, three times more than that of last year.
Besides, the average time each visitor spent on Taobao mobile became longer, at least 20 mins. Taobao launched a beta version of Weitao in May 2013, a Wechat like public platform embedded service on Taobao mobile, has attracted 50 million visitors in two months.
Consumers in tier three and four cities tended to spend over 20 mins on Taobao mobile, while tier one cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou average time was 18.5 mins. That’s because in tier one cities, people work longer and are under much pressure than people in tier three and four cities.
In Q2 2013, the number of Taobao retailers whose sales on mobile devices over 10% of total sales revenue reached 1.1 million, 489% more than that of last year. And the number of retailers whose sales on mobile devices over 30% of total sales revenue reached 339 thousand, with a YoY increase of 412%. In Guangzhou province, the number of taobao mobile retailers reached 515 thousand in June 2013, 48.5% more than that in December, 2012.
