Sina released its Q2 finance report on Aug 12, its advertising revenue hit 30 million USD with a 209% YoY increase, 80% of Sina Weibo total revenue of 37.7 million USD.
Sina advertising revenue had a YoY growth of 17%, up to USD 120.6 million. Sina had a net loss attributed to an one-off charge 27.1 million USD, but its Weibo advertising outperformed than the company’s expectation.Earlier, on April 29 2013, Alibaba invested 586 million USD, owning 18% of Weibo’s outstanding share capital on a fully-diluted basis.
By the end of Q2, active Weibo accounts grew to 54 million, 8.3% up from March. And average Weibo using time on mobile devices increased 14.5%.
Sina Weibo’s mobile revenue represented about 34% of all in Q1. And in Q2, excluding influence from Alibaba, it was still 34%. It will continue growing in the second half of 2013 considering the benefit brought by Alibaba.
