Some mobile apps have developed mini-apps in China, which requires no installation and allows instant usage on their platforms by users. The leading ones are WeChat, Alipay, and Baidu while Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi and 9 other major applications have also developed their own. While WeChat Mini-Programs leads the game, Alipay mini-apps also shows some potential.
Compared to regular apps, users are more likely to use these light apps because it’s download-free, more user-friendly, and doesn't use much phone storage, benefitting from the evolution of the mobile internet.
For example, the screening of the movie Dying to Survive has boosted the number of inquiries on Alipay Insurance by 414% in a week. The users of HelloBike have increased by 60% after its introduction of Alipay mini-app as well.
Other than that, the introduction of no deposit required policy on powerbank rental service Jiedian on Alipay platform has also increased the number of orders by 6 times.
