Travel becomes a need: 5 billion person trips spent RMB 4.57 trillion, average expenditure of RMB 3300 per person-trip
According to the National Travel Conference on August 1, the local travel market size stands at 5 billion person trips in 2017 and local travel receipts come up to a total of RMB 4.57 trillion (US$ 0.72 trillion). Outbound travel stands at 129 million person trips. Over the past three years, the total expenditure from travel took up more than 14% of the total national consumption expenditure.
Extrapolating from these numbers, local Chinese made an average of 3.7 person trips in 2017 and spent RMB 914 (US$ 143.08) per trip within the country. It is equivalent to an average of RMB 3300 (US$ 516.58) ...
