Redmi, Xiaomi’s entry-level smartphone brand, reached total sales of 110 million units in less than three years as of 30 Jun 2016, announced by Lei Jun in a celebration event.
Four out of ten most active smartphone models came from RedMi in June based on Umeng’s data. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was named the best affordable phone in 2016 by GSMA.
Xiaomi accounted for 10.85% of China’s smartphone market in November 2015, which was the largest domestic brand by total user coverage rate. Users aged from 26 to 35 years old were the driving force of Xiaomi smartphones.
Xiaomi had a soft quarter in Q1 2016, falling 9% annually and shipping 12.8 million units in China in Q1 2016. It slipped to the third position with 12 percent market share, down from 13 percent one year ago. Read more on Q1.
