The annual online shopping banquet Double 11 2015 finally ended under the rush of advertising in the subways, buses, elevators, mobile phones, pop-up ads, WeChat, Weibo… Compared to previous years, the Double 11 2015 was held by both online and offline companies, including Alibaba, Suning, Tencent, Jingdong, Amazon, Yihaodian and others, which has become a national online shopping festival. As the initiator of Double 11 and a large activity after listing on NYSE, Alibaba has drawn the world’s attention and showed Chinese people’s large consumption capacity.
By introducing over 5,000 famous brands in 25 overseas countries and regions and 5,000 domestic companies and shops on Double 11 2015, Tmall worked to offer discounts to drive more orders. Overall transaction sales of Alibaba this year reached 122.937 billion yuan (US$19.34 billion). The total single day’s transaction value on Tmall on reached 91.217 billion yuan (US$14.34 billion), 74% of total; and 68.67% came from mobile.
To better serve Double 11 today, Ant Finance, the parent company of Alipay, has invested 50 million yuan (US$7.85 million) to reduce the heavy pressure of Alipay and to encourage the use of Huabei, a service similar to credit card. Cainiao processed 100 million logistic orders in 43 minutes and only 17 minutes after payment, a Beijing shopper received his delivery according to Tmall.

Huawei’s Tmall Flagship Store won this year’s largest vendor of transaction values who sold out 940,000 smartphones of 1.193 billion yuan (US$187.12 million) on Double 11. This was the first time for Huawei outranged Xiaomi to become the top Tmall Flaoship Store and it was also the largest smartphone vendor on Jingdong on Double 11.
