Forbes China in April released a list of Top 30 Mobile Internet Companies in China in 2015, which records the revenue of China’s technological companies on the mobile internet. Tencent ranks first with the mobile revenue of RMB 22.171 billion (USD$ 3.571 billion), and Xiaomi is the only hardware manufacturer on the list.
There is no doubt that mobile internet has been developing very fast in China, and mobile-transformation has been a hot topic among these internet companies. According to the list which states the revenue of China’s technological companies on the mobile internet in 2014, we can see that the three internet magnates —Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, still enjoyed a large share of China’s internet market. In 2014, the three companies respectively received a revenue of RMB 18.149 billion (USD$ 2.923 billion), RMB 13.755 billion (USD$ 2.216 billion) and RMB 22.171 billion (USD$ 3.571 billion), while JD, which ranks next, only had RMB 4.047 billion (USD$ 651.9 million) in mobile revenue.
The marketing and distribution of mobile games has become an important source of mobile revenue, all the top 15 companies on the list got a revenue of over RMB 1 billion (USD$ 161.082 million). Baidu, with a surprising revenue of RMB 18.149 billion (USD$ 2.923 billion), mainly gave the credit to its big effort on mobile internet. Xiaomi,, although ranks 29th on the list, is the only hardware manufacturer.
On Feb 13, Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi company, announced in the U.S. that Xiaomi operation system MIUI had been activated over 100 million times across the world, and been an important supporter in mobile internet.
With the decreasing price of mobile terminal, 4G internet infrastructure has gradually improved and been implemented in nationwide area, mobile net market expands from the first and second tier cities to inland cities in a rather fast speed, mobile internet penetrates to every partsof people’s life.
Instant messaging, as an important access to mobile internet, together with social applications, is the most active mobile internet service, which becomes a priority among mobile companies, we can see the fierce battle in WeChat, Weibo, and etc. And the application form of mobile internet becomes more enriched and abundant, new products and business models integrated with mobile internet have come into being continuously, such as mobile internet banking, mobile medical treatment, mobile education and so on.
