According to the WeChat’s research, each WeChat user on average reads 5.86 articles per day. Reading over 3 articles on WeChat per day accounted for 51% in 2014.
Zhang Xiaolong, president of WeChat business unit said, “20% WeChat users read articles from subscription accounts while 80% users read on WeChat Moments”. Information from WeChat subscription accounts are separated from Moments news stream though users can share posts from subscription accounts in WeChat Moments.
Top 3 categories of articles on WeChat were Emotional Life, Health Care, and Politics & Law by number of readers and sharing. Especially the articles about Emotional Life and Health Care were favored by WeChat readers and were shared a lot more than other categories of content among WeChat users in 2014.
61% WeChat users shared articles on WeChat Moment and 39% of users shared directly by sending to friends via WeChat chat feature in China.
